Although the Japanese company’s next console hasn’t been officially unveiled yet, we’re already hearing when we can expect to see the Nintendo Switch 2 in stores (the name isn’t official yet, but leaks suggest that’s what the big N has christened it).
On Weibo (the Chinese equivalent of Twitter), a leaker wrote that Nintendo will unveil the Switch 2 sometime in January. The release is said to be in March, following the example of the Switch (since it launched in March 2017). However, the initial inventory is surprisingly low, according to the post: while Nintendo had 2.74 million units of the Switch at launch, it has 650,000 (!) for the Switch 2. That’s probably a typo, as Nintendo has said before that it doesn’t want a shortage of the new console, but that’s exactly what the Japanese company will achieve with this stock, if that’s really all the Switch 2 launches with…
Hundreds of thousands of some parts have already been manufactured since September, and Nvidia’s T239 has reportedly been arriving in larger shipments recently. This was in a post on November 23, but more information was released on December 6. According to Foxconn’s November financial report, it has already shipped an assembled Switch 2 kit to Nintendo, and the Japanese company has begun stocking up on supplies. He says it won’t be long between the announcement and sales.
On Twitter, NextHandheld, who has already leaked the Nintendo Switch 2 several times, has posted about it again. This time he posted about the Joy-Cons. He’s supposed to post about the Joy-Cons later today, but after a quick check, all we found was that there will be a microphone on the new platform. The Joy-Cons will be available in matte black, baby blue and orange, but more colors could be added in the future.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will definitely make its debut in the first quarter of the big N 2025 (it’s official), but everything else is just a rumor for now!
