It’s Official: Robert Pattinson’s The Batman: Part II Has Suffered Another Major Theatrical Delay [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – Matt Reeves has confirmed that filming on The Batman: Part II is already underway, but audiences will have to wait even longer for Robert Pattinson’s return to Gotham. Previously scheduled for October 2027, the sequel will now reach theaters in February 2028.

Some films are announced, shot, and released within a perfectly reasonable period, while The Batman: Part II appears determined to test the patience of everyone closely following the DC universe. Since its development was confirmed, the Robert Pattinson sequel has accumulated one postponement after another, changing its release date more times than most fans could ever have anticipated. The next journey into Gotham has once again moved farther into the future.

The Batman: Part II Has Been Delayed Again

Matt Reeves confirmed through Vimeo that The Batman: Part II will now open in theaters on February 18, 2028, moving away from its previous October 2027 release date. Alongside the announcement, the director shared footage resembling a camera test in which Robert Pattinson once again appears as Bruce Wayne and Batman. Despite the delay, the video indicates that production is progressing according to plan.

Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, and Sebastian Koch will join Robert Pattinson in the cast, although nothing has yet been revealed about the story or the characters they will portray. James Gunn defended an earlier postponement several months ago, arguing that lengthy gaps between sequels are not unusual for large-scale productions. He cited the seven years separating Alien and Aliens, as well as the thirteen-year wait between Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water.

According to Variety, the latest delay will give Reeves additional time for post-production. This is an especially demanding stage for the filmmaker, who wants to refine every detail so that the classic noir atmosphere fully supports the scale of his visual ambitions. Warner Bros. will fill the slot vacated by The Batman: Part II with J. J. Abrams’ mystery film The Great Beyond, starring Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega, which will now arrive in theaters on October 1, 2027.
