Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge vs. iPhone 17 Air: The New Smartphone Rivalry?

TECH NEWS – The South Korean company’s slim smartphone has a new (and perhaps official) name, and with its cameras it could be in a better position than Apple’s similarly slim phone.

Samsung has already unveiled the Galaxy S25 series, which looks slightly different from last year’s models. However, there was one device that was not on stage and was only hinted at by the company. So far we have also heard that there will be a slimmer model of the Galaxy S25, but it will not be called Slim, but Edge, and it will also be different in appearance from the other models. After the Galaxy Unpacked event, the device was available to the press, but no one was allowed to touch it.

Although Samsung managed to keep the design a secret, some aspects have been revealed through leaks and rumors. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge could be quite thin, and we don’t know the exact figure, it could be around 6 millimeters. Previously we heard 6.4 mm. The display will be similar in size to the Galaxy S25 Plus (6.7″, ~17.02 cm) and we can see two cameras on the back of the device. They’ll take a similar approach to Apple, but with an extra sensor. However, the camera module is quite protruding!

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to be released in the second half of the year with a thinner design that could even beat the Galaxy S25 Edge. Previously, we heard that Apple wants to keep the device under 6mm, but it faces technical challenges with the battery carrier. The Cupertino company’s handset is also expected to feature a single-lens camera setup, and we don’t yet know how Apple will market the device against Samsung.

An additional camera sensor and Samsung’s high-quality display with a higher refresh rate, as well as a thinner form factor, could make things difficult for the iPhone 17 Air and give Apple some good competition. The release of the Galaxy S25 Edge could be around April, according to a Samsung representative, which is in line with previous rumors that mentioned April-May.

None of this is official yet!
