Although Mortal Kombat X has been out by NetherRealm Studios for several months on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, those, who own a PlayStation 3 or an Xbox 360 had to wait for the previous generation version of the game. And all for nothing: as expected, after delaying the game on the PS3/X360, the previous gen port of Mortal Kombat X eventually ended up being cancelled.
The reasoning is the usual not being able to achieve the quality standard sentence, so we can’t really get more into it. It’s an omen though, because soon, the previous console generation’s support will end soon, trying to force everyone to upgrade to the current one.
The previous generation’s port were handled by High Voltage, and knowing that their PC port was rubbish at launch (patch after patch, downloading a ton of files on Steam), we can get behind this decision. So if you want to play a PS3 Mortal Kombat, you can only go for 9, for the current episode, you have to upgrade.
After this announcement, it’s likely that Ed Boon will get a few… angry tweets on Twitter.
