Since the PlayStation 2, Guerrilla Games‘ franchise Killzone has become a stable Sony-exclusive series. Its most recent episode, Shadow Fall, was one of the launch titles on the PlayStation 4 almost two entire years ago… It isn’t really a memorable title, but we have to admit it: the game made the best of the PlayStation 4 hardware – well, as much as a launch titilie is capable of doing so. But when’s the sequel, or a new Killzone title going to drop?
Not anytime soon. Guerrilla is now fully committed to Horizon: Zero Dawn, which is going to be an interesting mixture of futuristic technology and the past. Herman Hulst (effectively he’s the boss of Guerrilla Games) has given an interview to EDGE magazine, and he said that it’s too early to talk about new projects. For them, Horizon is a big challenge and whatever happens after that, it’s too early to mention. Horizon: Zeron Dawn is likely to drop in 2016.
Probably the team was bored with Killzone and they rather started something new, so they can reboot the franchise probably on the next Sony console. Or… will there be two Killzone games on the PS4 too?
