Death Stranding 2’s Latest Surprise: VTuber Usada Pekora Joins the Adventure!

Nobody saw it coming, but Kojima’s latest twist in Death Stranding 2 is to feature a cameo from a popular VTuber. Kojima Productions has confirmed that Usada Pekora, a Japanese VTuber, will be part of Sam Porter Bridges’ journey.

Hideo Kojima’s video games are famous for their unique mechanics, captivating stories, and wild ideas. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is no exception. Kojima Productions is blending its themes of connection and delivery with quirky cameos. In the first game, we saw the likes of Geoff Keighley and Guillermo del Toro, but this time, a Japanese VTuber is joining the cast.

This surprise was confirmed by Kojima Productions in a post on X, sharing a short video where Sam Porter Bridges greets Usada Pekora. For those unfamiliar, she’s an anime-styled character with white twin braids and carrots worked into her hair. Her appearance has thrilled fans in Japan, as Pekora boasts a huge following in the VTuber community.

According to the video, Sam will be tasked with delivering packages to Usada Pekora and will even interact with her holographic avatar. So don’t be surprised if you’re greeted by an anime-inspired girl while playing Death Stranding 2 – it’s a unique collaboration between Kojima Productions and the Japanese VTuber.

Death Stranding Is Getting an Anime

Interestingly, just a few hours ago, we also reported on another of Kojima’s projects that’s bringing Death Stranding closer to the world of anime: the team is already at work on an anime adaptation of the game. The creative director hasn’t shared details about this project yet, so we’ll have to wait for official updates to learn more. However, it’s clear that the Death Stranding movie is still moving forward and is set to hit theaters in 2027.
