The PlayStation VR virtual reality headset (which was originally called Project Morpheus, and we still didn’t really get used to this name) doesn’t have an official price and a concrete release date yet, but we already have a hunch on how Sony will price it. And simply put, yes, we will have to pay the price for the PlayStation VR.
According to Andrew House, it’s not going to be the price of an accessory, instead, he admitted that it is going to be priced as a „new gaming platform”. Going just by this comment, it’s likely to see the PlayStation VR price is 400 dollars, as the PS4 itself costs exactly the same.
The pricing would be close to the Oculus Rift’s and HTC Vive’s, as both are rumoured to be dropped into the 300-400 dollar region. However, you will need a compatible, beefy enough PC for them to use, and these can easily put you over a thousand dollars. But with the PS4+VR duo, it would be eight hundred – and we didn’t include the price of the games on either platforms.
So you better save, save, save… money in order to be able to buy the PlayStation VR.
