TECH NEWS – The South Korean company has put an end to the rumors and revealed when we can expect to see its new devices unveiled.
In the foldable device market, Samsung is not only a pioneer but a leader, mainly thanks to its Z Fold and Z Flip series, through which it constantly pushes the boundaries. Now, it seems the company has taken an even more ambitious approach with a tri-fold smartphone that has been in development for a while, likely to become a more advanced, flexible device—so far, only prototypes have been seen. Additionally, Samsung’s entry into the XR (extended reality) space is another eagerly awaited product launch.
Samsung ended the speculation about its tri-fold smartphone and XR headset by confirming in its latest earnings report that the devices will debut before the end of 2025. Launching these two products would be a bold step for the tech giant in both mobile and immersive technology. Samsung also emphasized that it is developing AI-based devices within the Galaxy ecosystem.
The upcoming Galaxy Z tri-fold device is expected to feature two inward-folding hinges that protect the screen when the device is closed. The Huawei Mate X Ultimate folds outward, offering less protection and durability compared to Samsung’s solution. This could give Samsung an advantage over competitors and potentially contribute to growth in the foldable device market.
The company plans to launch the smartphone in October, potentially making it the first major global firm to bring a tri-fold device to market, as Apple is not expected to release its first foldable iPhone until the end of 2026. In the same earnings report, Samsung also shared plans to launch its XR headset by year’s end. This headset will be the first to feature the Android XR platform, which Samsung and Google jointly developed.
Samsung’s strategy is now more proactive, a contrast to its slow pace of innovation in recent years. This could give the company a real advantage in the market and help solidify its position before Apple’s products arrive.
