Midgar Studio and Nacon’s anime-inspired action RPG won’t arrive this year as planned. Against the backdrop of a plague-ridden world, a new heroine rises to fight for humanity’s survival, but fans will have to wait until 2026 to embark on this apocalyptic adventure. The delay only fuels anticipation, with legendary artists and greater challenges awaiting in the sequel.
The Astryan continent has already fallen to the Corrosion, a catastrophic plague of unimaginable scale. Now the nomadic peoples of Avaris stand on the brink of extinction. Eline, a wandering Soul Whisperer, battles the force transforming lush lands, vibrant wildlife, and humanity itself into grotesque monstrosities. After a mysterious encounter, she gains the ability to control the corrosion within her own body—a dark power that might be the key to ending the apocalypse. Yet saving a world already doomed is no easy feat.
Alongside Ysoris, her unlikely mentor, and Kanta, a shaman prince from a lost tribe, Eline must overcome formidable enemies. Players will engage in spectacular battles, chaining combos that alternate between quick strikes and devastating techniques. Allies play a pivotal role, customizable and ready to unleash their skills at critical moments. As fury consumes her, Eline can transform into a Berserker, delivering earth-shattering blows that culminate in brutal executions.
The franchise’s previous installment, Edge of Eternity, attracted over 1 million players, and the sequel aims even higher. Notable artists such as Yasunori Mitsuda, Emi Evans, Sawako Natori, and Raita Kazama contribute their talents, enhancing the game’s atmosphere and emotional impact.
However, Edge of Memories will not launch this fall but sometime in 2026. Target platforms remain PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. The delay seems to reflect a broader trend, as other titles—like Directive 8020: A Dark Pictures Game—have also been pushed to 2026.
