More information has emerged about LEGO’s rumored PlayStation model, which is now said to be launching on October 1. A small Astro Bot set may be offered alongside the classic Sony console, although it will reportedly be available only for a limited period and probably through direct purchases from LEGO.

New details have emerged about the LEGO PlayStation set that first leaked earlier this year. In March, the insider known as LEGO Minecraft Goat – who has a lengthy record of revealing upcoming sets and their prices – claimed that LEGO was developing a brick-built recreation of Sony’s original PlayStation. The original report stated that the product would cost $159.99 or €159.99 and contain 1,911 pieces. The box is expected to include at least the console itself and one controller. LEGO leaker BrickTap has now shared additional information, including a possible release date and plans for a gift-with-purchase promotion.

According to the report, the LEGO PlayStation will launch on October 1 and will be accompanied by a separate Astro Bot promotional set. The smaller package is reportedly numbered 40899, while the PlayStation model carries the set number 72306. LEGO frequently offers gift-with-purchase products through its official website when major new sets are released. These items are generally not sold separately and can be obtained only by buying a specific qualifying product during a limited promotional window. It therefore appears highly likely that the Astro Bot model will be available only to customers ordering the PlayStation set directly from LEGO, and probably only for a short period following its release.

Such promotional sets regularly appear on resale platforms at substantially inflated prices. When LEGO offered the Kanto Region Badge Collection alongside its large Pokémon set, resellers began listing the supposedly free bonus for between $175 and $300. If the reports are accurate, PlayStation will become LEGO’s fourth full-sized recreation of a video game console. The company has previously released models based on the NES, Atari 2600 and Game Boy, while a considerably smaller and cheaper Mega Drive or Genesis set was also launched recently.
