We finally get to see more of Insomniac Games‘ next project, which will definitely not be released on PlayStation 5 this year!

Bold, resilient, and volatile, Wolverine is a character that the entire Insomniac team is excited to explore in collaboration with Marvel Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment. As with their Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise, they’re joining forces once again to deliver an original take on a beloved Marvel Comics icon. Liam McIntyre plays Wolverine/Logan, channeling the rage, pain, and complexity of this legendary character.

In this story, he seeks the secrets of his dark past. Unfortunately, in this brutal world, he’ll have to dig deep—sometimes literally—to find the answers he’s searching for. That often means cutting down waves of enemies determined to stop him at all costs. Fueled by his unyielding resilience (and rapid healing factor), Wolverine doesn’t give up easily when it comes to completing his mission.

Logan is the quintessential reluctant hero, haunted by the consequences of unleashing the beast within. Once his claws come out, there’s no holding back. Forged into a living weapon against his will, he uses razor-sharp adamantium claws to tear through enemies and channels his berserker rage to dominate the battlefield. With fast, fluid, and brutal attacks, he leaves foes dismembered or broken. Wolverine may be distant, but he’s never afraid to get up close and personal when the situation demands it.

Wolverine often walks a solitary path, though eagle-eyed fans have spotted familiar faces he’ll cross paths with, such as the elusive Mystique and the savage Omega Red. Some allies will fight alongside him against all odds, while others — like the Reavers, one of the enemy factions — will relentlessly hunt him down, keeping his instincts razor-sharp. The trailer ends with a prototype of a menacing, iconic purple robot.

This global thriller sends Wolverine on a desperate hunt for answers across exotic locations, from the island nation of Madripoor to the frozen wilderness of Canada and the narrow streets of Tokyo — each a potential battlefield for savage, bloody, and explosive action.

Insomniac aims to deliver the ultimate Wolverine experience, built on core elements like fast, fluid, and ferocious combat; cinematic, action-packed sequences; robust accessibility features; and a gripping story rooted in the essence of one of comics’ most compelling heroes. They’re breaking new ground with Wolverine, but their passion for stories of heroes overcoming overwhelming odds remains as strong as ever. They’re eager to explore Logan’s journey with players and showcase a darker, more brutal take on heroism than we’ve ever seen from them before.

More details will be revealed in spring 2026. Marvel’s Wolverine is scheduled to release on PlayStation 5 in fall 2026.
