In terms of physical retail sales last week, games released for the Big N showed incredible dominance!
Kirby Air Riders debuted at the top of the Japanese physical sales charts in a week once again dominated by Switch and Switch 2 games. According to Famitsu’s Japanese physical game sales data, the sequel to Sakurai Masahiro’s GameCube title Kirby: Air Ride sold 194,594 copies in Japan between its release on November 20 and the end of the weekly chart period on November 23. This means it sold nearly three times as many copies as Mario Kart World, which ranked second for the week. Mario Kart World has sold more than 2.2 million physical copies in Japan alone, including copies bundled with the Switch 2.
Meanwhile, Pokémon Legends: Arceus remains popular, selling 50,540 copies on the Switch and Switch 2 platforms, with a sales ratio of 57/43 in favor of the Switch version. In a list typically dominated by Nintendo, only two PlayStation 5 titles appeared in the top 20, and only Switch or Switch 2 games appeared in the top 15. It should be noted that Famitsu’s list includes sales of physical games, download cards sold in retail stores, and games included in hardware bundles but not digitally purchased games. Thus, the total sales figures for each game will only be known in Nintendo’s next financial report, when the company discloses the total physical and digital sales of its bestsellers.
