Resident Evil Requiem: But Where Is Leon S. Kennedy? [VIDEO]

It seems like Capcom is trying its best to hide one of the franchise’s most prominent characters in its newest title.

The basic survival horror elements of Resident Evil: Requiem were effectively presented at recent events, such as Gamescom. However, one of the key elements of the gaming experience, combat, has yet to be shown. Unfortunately, the reveal did not come with confirmation of what all fans were waiting for: Leon S. Kennedy’s appearance in the game. New combat footage from Resident Evil: Requiem has begun circulating on the internet.

A short clip was shown yesterday on a special program broadcast in Japan. The video shows a new area where Grace fights zombies with a pistol in third-person scenes reminiscent of Resident Evil 4. As noted by the well-known insider Dusk Golem on Twitter, since the broadcast was on Japanese television, the footage is from the Z Version, a censored version of the game. Thus, the international version will feature the usual blood and gore.

Since Leon S. Kennedy is not seen in action in the first combat footage from Resident Evil: Requiem, time is running out for such an important announcement. In recent months, there have been rumors that the protagonist of the second and fourth main games in the franchise will be at the center of the combat elements. Along with the combat mechanics, the announcement of his presence would be very logical. However, hope dies last. The game’s producer, Masato Kumazawa, recently responded to the rumors without denying them. Therefore, Leon S. Kennedy may be the second main character in Resident Evil Requiem, alongside the beloved character Grace Ashcroft.

Either way, there’s no denying that Resident Evil: Requiem looks great in the new footage. It will be released on February 27 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Note that the game allows us to switch between first- and third-person views.
