The Queen of Arasaka Is Tired of Waiting: Cyberpunk 2077 Reminds You About Hanako

CD Projekt RED teamed up once again with Hanako Arasaka’s voice actress to poke fun at players who keep postponing one of the game’s most important meetings.

While CD Projekt RED is fully focused on The Witcher IV and the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, the studio still finds creative ways to engage with fans of its sci-fi RPG. One of those moments comes in the form of a short, humorous video shared on social media, featuring Alpha Takahashi, the voice actress behind Hanako Arasaka.

Near the end of Cyberpunk 2077, players are invited to meet Hanako Arasaka, a central figure within the Arasaka megacorporation, during an exclusive appointment at the Embers restaurant. This scene takes place during the Nocturne Op55N1 mission, right before the story’s conclusion. However, most players choose not to head straight into the finale.

Instead, they roam Night City, complete side quests, and tie up loose ends, leaving Hanako waiting patiently at Embers. Sometimes that wait stretches on for hours or even days of real-world playtime. According to CD Projekt RED, this behavior is so widespread that it inspired a playful response.

In the video, Takahashi, speaking in character as Hanako, gently mocks the situation. She reminds V that she has been waiting for an uncomfortably long time, joking that she might as well buy the restaurant and rename it something along the lines of “The Hall of Eternal Anticipation.”

The message escalates as Hanako remarks that even Arasaka board meetings don’t drag on this long. If V has no intention of showing up soon, she suggests sending someone else, otherwise she might channel her boredom into something absurd, like promoting the bartender to Vice President of Profound Disappointment. The tongue-in-cheek tone struck a chord with fans.

Player reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, with many admitting they are guilty of ignoring Hanako’s request for far too long, giving the Arasaka heiress every reason to be irritated.

Cyberpunk 2077 Has Sold 35 Million Copies

The collaboration with Takahashi is just one of several initiatives celebrating the fifth anniversary of Cyberpunk 2077. Perhaps more impressive is the recent confirmation that the game has now surpassed 35 million units sold worldwide.

That milestone was reached faster than The Witcher III, as Geralt of Rivia’s iconic adventure took roughly six years to climb past the 30-million mark.
