Although not all games are currently supported, we can safely say that most games can be emulated on a PC.
The emulator has undergone significant development and can now run many games without any problems. We don’t recall exactly what percentage of PlayStation 3 games were playable a few years ago, but it was certainly less than 50%. The emulator has come a long way in terms of supporting more games and expanding to multiple platforms. The RPCS3 development team has been making steady progress for some time. We recently reported on significant emulator changes.
However, what has been overlooked is that the emulator can now support ~70% of PlayStation 3 games without significant issues. The compatibility page provides information about game compatibility with the emulator. While not all PlayStation 3 games can be run on the emulator, most games can now be played with full performance and without game-breaking bugs. Users can check the compatibility of individual games, as well as games that are not yet fully supported. Currently, 26.59% of games can be played but not completed due to poor performance or crashes. Fewer than 3% of games allow users to start the game up to the intro, and fewer than 0.1% cannot be played at all.
Not only does RPCS3 run most PlayStation 3 games, it is also compatible with multiple devices. The development team recently announced that the emulator can run on Windows-on-Arm64 devices; previously, it was limited to the Linux operating system. The emulator currently runs successfully on popular operating systems, such as Windows, Linux and macOS, on both x64 and Arm64 architectures. However, the development team is unsure whether they will extend support to other platforms.
Note that the team has released an update allowing disc games to be loaded from ISO files. (We reported on this earlier.)
