MOVIE NEWS – The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is officially back, and the Dark Lord Sauron is now one step closer to completing the One Ring to rule all of Middle-earth. As darkness descends upon the mystical land, new and returning heroes rise to fight the powerful threat.

Prime Video has unleashed the first teaser trailer for The Rings of Power Season 3, which is set to debut on November 20. The next season will see Sauron attempt to craft the One Ring, while the heroes gather to fight the powerful foe and his vast army, which now includes the Nazgûl. As the trailer suggests, the battle between good and evil has never been more dire, with Sauron’s ascension to Mount Doom serving as the catalyst for the chaos. Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Gandalf (Daniel Weyman), Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova) and several other characters are seen taking the fight to the Dark Lord, who is shown crafting the Ring at the end of the footage.

The return of The Rings of Power moves the story five years into the future following the explosive events of the Season 2 finale. Sauron is now openly operating as the Dark Lord, no longer hidden behind his Elven disguise, and is closer than ever to obtaining the One Ring. The third season officially enters the peak of the War of the Elves and Sauron, setting up the eventual final battle for the fate of Middle-earth, the War of the Last Alliance, as depicted in the opening of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

The Rings of Power Season 3 will introduce a key new character that devoted Lord of the Rings fans will instantly recognize. The return of Celeborn, Galadriel’s long-lost husband, has been teased since the first season. He will be played by Jamie Campbell Bower, who is known for portraying Vecna in Netflix’s Stranger Things. Other notable additions to the upcoming season include Eddie Marsan (Clayface), Andrew Richardson (Ponies), Zubin Varla (Andor) and Adam Young (Masters of the Air). It has also been announced that the Balrog will be voiced by Simon Pegg, who has been confirmed to share the screen with Sauron.

With the third season of The Rings of Power set to premiere this autumn, Prime Video is wasting no time preparing another batch of episodes. It was reported in May that the streaming service had begun early development on Season 4, although it has not yet been officially announced. Considering the scale of the ambitious production, it is hardly surprising that Amazon is attempting to get ahead of schedule, especially as the series is expected to attract major streaming numbers for Prime Video this November.
