DD2gether is using this to draw attention to the game, even though a major DLC is about to be released.
The original Dragon’s Dogma, which centered on battles against massive foes such as Cyclopes and ogres, often felt like a cross between an open-world RPG and the Monster Hunter series. Dragon’s Dogma 2 followed in its predecessor’s footsteps, perhaps a little too closely, and offered a similar experience. The two Capcom series will soon be closer than ever on PC thanks to the release of the alpha version of the DD2gether mod, which introduces cooperative multiplayer ahead of the October 9 release of the Dark Arisen expansion for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
The DD2gether mod will soon make its public debut with an early alpha version. Players should therefore expect some teething problems, but the mod will significantly improve the PC experience by offering a feature that fans have been asking for for years – one that Capcom has so far only implemented in Japan with Dragon’s Dogma Online. While some would have been satisfied if the Pawns could simply take control and synchronize with the environment in Dragon’s Dogma 2, information on the mod’s Discord server suggests that this may only be the beginning. In late June, the development team confirmed that Stray Paws would also be controllable. Once a few issues have been resolved, this could pave the way for cooperative gameplay involving more than four players and siege battles involving up to 20 players, among other things.
The release of the DD2gether alpha is the perfect time to get acquainted with Dragon’s Dogma 2. Although the co-op mod will only be available on PC, the console versions of the game have also received significant improvements following the announcement of the Dark Arisen expansion, with further updates expected later this month. Hopefully, this IP will receive as much attention as Onimusha, for example.
