SilentPatch, an Essential Tool for the Classic Grand Theft Auto Games, Has Received a Massive Update! [VIDEO]

More than a hundred issues have been fixed, including the restoration of many previously inaudible voice lines in the third installment of the trilogy.

The PC ports of Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas were not perfect, partly due to reused code across the three games. Another contributing factor was the common carelessness in PC ports. SilentPatch has long been the solution, and it is now even better thanks to a major update that fixes remaining bugs and restores cut content that was previously inaccessible due to typos in the code. One notable change in this version of the patch is the restoration of 100 voice lines to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Some of these were only glitchy under certain conditions, for example, the lines that CJ says when shooting at people only worked when playing with a controller. These lines will now play even when aiming with a mouse and keyboard and pulling the trigger.

Many other lines of dialogue have also surfaced that we otherwise would never have heard. Passersby now chat about the weather, criminals have lines specifically related to escaping, CJ has unique lines when taking over certain neighborhoods, as well as several lines when interacting with sex workers, several gang member taunts can also be heard, police officers now announce when they are surrounded or need covering fire, there is a specific growl heard while spraying graffiti, and several shopkeepers have lines for when they are being robbed. According to the patch notes, the Ammu-Nation clerk had more than fifteen voiced lines for this event, all of which were previously unused.

These are just some of the many improvements made to the three games. Lens flares and heat haze now scale appropriately with the resolution, NPCs can correctly use sniper rifles and RPGs, cops no longer shoot in a gangster style, birds appear correctly, roadblocks face the correct direction, and you can park a boat in the garage without the game crashing. Extremely specific bugs, such as the one that turned the sky over San Andreas red at 8 p.m. when it rained, have finally been fixed, as has the one that caused an explosion at Fort Carson by incorrectly spawning a plane in someone’s driveway. Street gangsters in Grand Theft Auto III now move in formation rather than wandering around and then freezing in place, resolving an issue that even affected the PS2 version.

SilentPatch was already essential for resolving more obvious issues, such as faulty mouse controls, but it is now even better.

Grabbing controllers since the middle of the nineties. Mostly he has no idea what he does - and he loves Diablo III. (Not.)
