MOVIE NEWS – Kate Beckinsale, Dermot Mulroney, Robert Knepper, and Sticky Fingaz are filming the new action thriller Drifter in Cleveland. Directed by Randall Emmett, the movie traps its characters inside a small-town police station under siege.

Production is underway across Cleveland and other locations in Northeast Ohio. Alongside Beckinsale and Mulroney, the leading ensemble includes Prison Break actor Robert Knepper and rapper Sticky Fingaz.

Bill Sage, Beau Bommarito, Ema Horvath, Maia Kai, and entrepreneur and media personality John Cerasani round out the cast. Randall Emmett is directing.

A mysterious prisoner triggers the siege

Set in a quiet Midwestern town, the story follows Wendy Ford, an interim police chief determined to prove that she deserves her late father’s badge. After she arrests a drifter with a concealed past, Wendy becomes trapped inside the isolated station when impostors posing as FBI agents and a heavily armed mercenary unit attack to free one of the prisoners.

Wendy is forced into an uneasy alliance with the enigmatic stranger and must uncover the truth behind the assault before the town—and everyone inside the building—is destroyed.

Convergence Entertainment, founded by Randall Emmett and Joel Cohen, is producing and fully financing the film in association with Dream Team Films. Emmett and Cohen are also serving as producers.

The director’s latest action thriller, The Gentleman Thief, starring John Travolta, was released by Vertical on July 28, 2026. Emmett previously produced The Irishman, Silence, and Lone Survivor. He denied multiple allegations of industry misconduct made in 2022 and 2023, and has since completed films including Alarum and High Rollers.
