Xbox says Fable’s published PC performance targets do not rely on upscaling. That makes the requirements easier to judge, although the minimum still targets 30 fps and the installation demands a substantial chunk of an SSD.
There is an important addition to the Fable hardware requirements we covered previously. In a September 14 update, PC Gamer reports that Xbox has confirmed the advertised resolutions and frame rates are native targets. Upscaling is available to improve performance beyond that baseline, rather than being a hidden assumption behind the specifications.
Playground Games is bringing its reboot to PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 on February 23, 2027. Despite often being called the fourth entry, its official title is simply Fable. For a game with this level of visual ambition, the entry requirements are fairly approachable: an Intel Core i7-6850K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 can be paired with a GeForce RTX 2060. The qualification matters, however. That combination is intended for Low settings at 1080p and 30 fps, so meeting the minimum should not be confused with comfortably reaching 60.
The other minimum GPU options are an RTX 5050, Radeon RX 6600 or Intel Arc A580. Moving to the recommended specification brings the processor requirement up to a Core i5-11600KF or Ryzen 5 5600 and targets the Medium preset. Players can aim for 1440p at 30 fps or 1200p at 60 fps, depending on whether image detail or smoother movement takes priority.
The hardware behind the targets
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Intel Core i7-6850K / AMD Ryzen 5 2600 | Intel Core i5-11600KF / AMD Ryzen 5 5600 |
| GPU | GeForce RTX 5050 / RTX 2060; Radeon RX 6600; Intel Arc A580 | GeForce RTX 5060 / RTX 3060 Ti; Radeon RX 9060 XT / RX 6700 XT |
| Memory | 12 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Storage | 135 GB; SSD required | 135 GB; SSD required |
There is a discrepancy worth clearing up in the AMD recommendations. PC Gamer lists an RX 7600 XT, while the official FAQ names an RX 6700 XT alongside the RX 9060 XT. The table above follows the developer’s FAQ. Neither recommended list provides an Intel graphics card option.
Supported reconstruction technologies include Nvidia DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 3 and 4, and Intel XeSS 2.1. Xbox’s clarification means compatible systems have another way to gain performance beyond the stated native targets. It does not turn the minimum specification into a guarantee of 60 fps: the resolution, chosen settings and finished game will still determine the result.
With several months left before launch, these specifications remain a guide rather than a substitute for testing the release build. The 12 GB memory baseline should be less painful than a wholesale upgrade, particularly while memory and SSD prices are under pressure. Finding 135 GB of free solid-state storage could be the more immediate chore. Before making room for a new life in Albion, some players may have to make room on their drives.
