MOVIE NEWS – No, it’s not April 1th and it’s not a bad joke, or rumor! Megan Fox actually really told GameSpot that’s she’s “much more interested in taking on the role of Henry Jones Jr. than his own female counterpart Lara Croft”!

Okay, so we understand that Hollywood in a remarkable transition period where it’s trying to produce more strong roles for woman. Sometimes it succeeds, like with Daisy Ridley‘s Rey who took the lead in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And sometimes it’s hated, like with the all-female reboot of Ghostbusters being loathed upon by the masses. Yes, the new Ghostbusters has actually the lowest rated trailer of all-time on Youtube. And that’s a true achievement.

This trend shows no sign of ending soon, with a Princess taking over the role of The Mummy in Universal’s imminent reboot and quite a number of female-centric superhero flicks on the way from both Marvel and DC.

Currently, Megan Fox has her very own idea about rebooting the Indiana Jones franchise after director Steven Spielberg and star Indiana Jones made Indiana Jones 5 in 2019. Yes, she wants to play the legendary archeologist… HERSELF!

She made an interview with GameSpot.com, with the main topic of reprising her role as April O’Neil in this summer’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. She told journalists, that she’s is much more interested in taking on the role of Henry Jones Jr. than his own female counterpart Lara Croft. We’re not sure if Fox was ever considered for the role of Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot, but it was announced not so long ago that Alicia Vikander has secured that role.

“I’ve always wanted to do Tomb Raider, but it’s been done–and very well. So I guess I’d go with Indiana Jones, since I always loved how fun and free-spirited Indiana is. He’s an adventurous rogue archaeologist who barely escapes death chasing down treasures among the earth’s most mysterious sites. What’s not to love?”

Besides her character as April O’Neil in Ninja Turtles, Megan Fox is probably best known for her lead role in the first two Transformers movies. And there has long been an uncertainty of whether or not she will ever be back for another Transformer. Michael Bay infamously had Megan Fox replaced by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Transformers 3 after Megan compared him to Hitler. They later made-up, as evident by the actress taking the human lead in the TMNT movies produced by Bay.

So far, Indiana Jones has only been performed by a male actor. Harrison Ford first introduced the character in 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark. He would go onto star in three more sequels, and will make Indiana Jones 5 in 2019. The late River Phoenix also played a young Indiana Jones in The Last Crusade. Another actor: Sean Patrick Flanery played the character in the Young Indiana Jones TV series. But this isn’t the first time the idea of a female Indiana Jones has been floated.

Anna Kendrick played “Indianna Jones” (sic) in a sketch for NBC’s Red Nose Day special, which became a viral sensation. Of course, it was only a joke. It’s uncertain how fans would actually respond to Indiana Jones being recast as a woman. As things are currently progressing, it could actually happen – especially if a movie like Ghostbusters will be actually a success. Still, many suspect it could be the biggest bomb of the summer. However, many detractors like to point out, Ghostbusters faults do not lie within the concept of female ghost hunters alone. They assert it simply looks like an terrible movie with bad jokes. Even if Disney did want to gender swap the character, it won’t happen for quite a few years.
