While thinking that the PlayStation 4 Pro would have much better performance than the base console, it turned out that the results are not all favoring the new PlayStation 4 model!
According to Digital Foundry‘s analysis, some games that received a PlayStation 4 Pro patch ran at a lower frame rate than on a regular PS4. Going by the previously leaked Sony documentation, this performance would be against the rules set by them – some developers might receive an email or a phone call from the Japanese company shortly…
Four games are currently sitting on the „shame-bench” at the moment: next to Mantis Burn Racing, The Last of Us Remastered, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Skyrim Special Edition turned out to run worse on the PlayStation 4 Pro than on a normal PS4. Naughty Dog’s game runs on 3200×1080 resolution, and it mostly keeps 60 frames per second with some dips. However, on 1080p screens, the textures are downscaled to have better anti-aliasing, but in return, the frame rate drops UNDER what the regular PlayStation 4 can pull off! The same happens with Skyrim. Deus Ex runs better in some cases, then worse at others on the PS4 Pro – the dips can go as low as twenty frames per second…
In the third video, we can see the PlayStation 4 Pro torn down to pieces. We can clean the fan without losing the warranty on the console. At least that information is a positive in this situation, isn’t it?
