After the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 also hit the end of its line.
Gematsu reports that the Japanese PlayStation website lists the 500-gigabyte PlayStation 3 model as its shipments are ended, which means the last PS3 model’s manufacturing is now over.
Back in March, we wrote about how the console, which debuted in November 2006 in North America and Japan, is slowly reaching the end of production. Sony has defeated Microsoft: they stopped manufacturing the Xbox 360 in April 2016.
The PlayStation 3 lived roughly 10.5 years – it caused a lot of great moments, but now it’s time to hand over the keys to the successor, the PlayStation 4 (which could be getting a price cut shortly due to the PS3 disappearing).
