This Developer from Japan Wouldn't Make PS4 Games If Steam Were Popular in Their Country

What a bold statement from a Japanese JRPG maker, and it says all.

Nihon Falcom’s name might not be meaning a lot to you, but they have been on the market for decades. With their JRPGs, like the Ys, Dragon Slayer, Lord Monarch, Vantage Master series, they have been on PC for a long time, but due to the decline in Japan with PC gaming, they had to follow the trends and move to PlayStation 4.

Toshihiro Kondo, the CEO of the company, told USGamer that there was a bigger focus on PC a long time ago, and if Steam becomes more popular in Japan, they’d be able to develop natively for the platform again (as they just do console ports), and he added that if the Steam were popular out from the box, they’d probably not even make PlayStation 4 games at the moment.

Mind you, they are Japanese developers, and they’d skip „local” consoles if they had the chance. That is new…
