In Hungary using a kind of a “clever” virus media action the game distributors (or their PR agency) have stolen Metropol Hungary’s whole layout and design and they have printed their own Metropol Newspaper.
The fake “Metroplay” newspaper is distributed in the Hungarian subways similarly to the original Metropol. The logo of Metropol itself was changed to Watch Dogs one.
Amusing? Well Metropol Hungary’s chief editor isn’t amused at all. In an interview to cink.hu he told that he already contacted their lawyers to take the matter in hand and there will be most certainly a legal issue with a possible large amount fine to pay.
Was it worth it? In Hungary the game business isn’t a very lucrative business since the country is rather small. Such viral media actions may sound fun, but the fine to pay may be a lot heftier than the profit made from the sales of the game.
