The French company is in a superb standing, which could help against Vivendi.
They published their first fiscal half-year results, where most numbers are positive. Between the April-September months, they generated 466.2 million euros in sales, which is significantly higher year-on-year than 281.2 million euros a year ago. Three games are credited as the main force behind the growth: Ghost Recon: Wildlands, the Switch-exclusive Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, and Rainbow Six: Siege, which is continuously supported.
Although the numbers are closed at the end of September, Ubisoft did mention that Assassin’s Creed: Origins’ sales in the first ten days were twice as much as 2015’s AC installment, Syndicate! (That game is at 5.5 million sales, and the franchise’s best-seller is III with 13 million.) The Egyptian adventures’ 35% were digitally sold.
The French company’s main driving platform is the PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch is effectively right behind the Xbox One in performance. For the complete fiscal year (April 2017-March 2018), Ubisoft expects 1.7 billion euros in sales revenue, and 270 million in profit, respectively, especially because of upcoming AAA titles, such as Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2. It’s full of optimism, which is underlined by Yves Guillemot’s, Ubisoft’s CEO’s comment:
„The quality of our new releases is the result of our effort to transform our model and make our business more profitable and recurring. Given longer development lead times, our talents can fully express their creative visions and therefore maximize the potential of our games. The success of these releases – notably the 100% sales growth for Assassin’s Creed Origins – demonstrate that Ubisoft is ideally positioned to deliver further growth in future fiscal years.”
Ubisoft is going forward.
