The newest Making of Star Wars podcast revealed further information about Respawn‘s (Titanfall) next game, which was sloppily announced during EA Play.
Star Wars Jed: Fallen Order will be set between the third and the fourth movies, and we’ll control a Padawan who survived the destruction of the Jedi Order. Jason Ward, the host of the podcast, went more profound than that, based on „an unnamed source in the industry.”
The game wants to hit a tone like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed but without the „Mountain Dew qualities,” which means there should be a gritty and dark story while staying faithful to the Star Wars canon without „anything absurd,” such as pulling Star Destroyers from orbit. Also, and this might be the most exciting tidbit: the game is set to be single-player, as Ward thinks Star Wars: Battlefront will be around for the multiplayer.
Of course, it’s not official yet, but if Respawn goes against Electronic Arts’ trends, it could work out well for them… or they might end up the same way as several other EA-acquired studios: in a grave. Like how Visceral and their Star Wars game concept did…
