Nihon is in the middle of the game’s development!
The latest issue of Famitsu contains an interview with Toshihiro Kondo, the president of Nihon. BlackKite has translated it on Twitter. Kondo talked about the next YS game – its protagonist will be Adol Christin once again, but he will be as old as never before. Plot-wise, YS IX: Monstrum Nox will be set after YS VII – the timeline is somewhat complicated, and currently, VII is at its end.
Kondo confirmed that the party system seen in previous YS games would return, and now, each member will have Superpower Abilities based on Monstrum’s abilities that could allow them to run on walls for example. (We can play as a Monstrum, too!) Going by this thought, there’s a possibility of more puzzles in YS IX than in previous games. The Drifting Village system in VIII will return in IX, but now, it will also be used to manage the guild.
YS IX: Monstrum Nox‘ development is at 50% at the moment, which means the game is half-way done. It’s still planned to launch in 2019, but it means it will be likely towards the end of the year in Japan on PlayStation 4. A Western release hasn’t been announced yet…
