A team with quality remasters and remakes might consider their next project a The Legend Of Dragoon remake.
ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection (PlayStation 3, 2011), Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, 2011), Flower (PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, 2013), Titanfall (Xbox 360, 2014), Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection (PlayStation 4, 2015), Gravity Rush Remastered (PlayStation 4, 2015, or 2016 in the West), Shadow of the Colossus (PlayStation 4, 2018). These games and collections are those that were handled by Bluepoint. The last game on the list, Shadow of the Colossus, was already a remake, so the team can be capable of doing bigger and better facelifts, too. And there might be plans forming for the next project.
Peter Dalton, the technical director of Bluepoint Games, linked a video on Twitter about Shadow of the Colossus. A fan replied by asking a question: „Do you like the video game “The Legend of Dragoon”?” He answered: „I love “The Legend of Dragoon”. Perhaps it should be a project?” Later, he added the following: „It is amazing seeing everyone’s passion. It is humbling and reminds me of why we remake games. It is motivational and makes me want to push even harder to bring memories and greatness back to life!”
The Legend of Dragoon was an RPG developed by Sony’s Japanese studio (which means it was an in-house project) for PS1. It launched in Japan in December 1999, in North America in June 2000, and Europe, perhaps a little too late, in January 2001, respectively. Its producer was a certain Shuhei Yoshida, who nowadays works as the president of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios…
Sony’s Japan Studio worked with Team Ico on the original Shadow of the Colossus on the PS2, and they helped Bluepoint with the PlayStation 4 remake. So… why not? An RPG could be exciting in a remake, too – just look at Final Fantasy VII Remake.
