Konami doesn’t work on anything that is related to Silent Hill.
Recently, we have heard several rumours that can be related to the return of Silent Hill. Allegedly, there’s a smaller game in the works, and there’s also a bigger title that could be a soft reboot as well. We have also seen that Kojima Productions could be related to the Konami IP, as we have seen some telltale signs of that happening.
However, Konami has woken up from its pachinko craze, and sent a North American PR representative to tell the following to Rely On Horror: „We’re aware of all the rumours and reports but can confirm that they are not true. I know it’s not the answer your fans may want to hear. It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported,” he says.
We have reported these reports and rumours in the past, but we could turn this around as well. We could say that it is nothing more than a smokescreen to make us believe that nothing is in development that could be tied to Silent Hill. Then, they could announce the opposite to surprise us. It is a possible scenario even if it sounds a bit farfetched at the moment.
So all we can do now is wait until something gets announced… or if a new rumour pops up. The latest one mentioned that Sony’s Japan Studio could be working on the soft reboot and that Silent Hills could also get a revival – it sounds good, but let’s say we give up on these on paper. We could dream, though – Konami’s PR guy could be lying to save his hide and the reputation of his employer. Silent Hill would be good for us, especially after the success of the Resident Evil 2 Remake.
