Far Cry 3‘s iconic villain’s actor is teasing a return. But what could the French company be doing?
Far Cry 3 was a fairly strong game in a decent year of gaming. In 2012, we have had some memorable games (including Dishonored by Arkane Studios, Spec Ops: The Line by Yager, and many more…), and Ubisoft also contributed to that year. Far Cry 3’s formula (or, in a few cases, even its map…) was reused in later Far Cry games, as it reimagined the open-world shooter mechanics. In this game, Ubisoft created a character that we still remember even today. His name is Vaas Montenegro, who is probably called Vaas Crna Gora in Southern Slavic languages. He was a crazy but memorable character.
Michael Mando, the actor behind Vaas, had a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything). Here, he wrote the following: „Vaas is my spirit animal. Having co-created that character is something that will always be dear to me. I still get recognized as Vaas, and I still feel the outpouring of love for that character – makes me very happy. Who knows… maybe I will reprise the role very soon? :p Thank you for watching.” That sounds ominous, doesn’t it?
So Mando has hinted at Ubisoft potentially doing something – although Vaas has technically died in Far Cry 3, the French company could do a prequel story to it to keep the character in focus potentially for Far Cry 6 (which has to be in development by now). Recently, Mando was Nacho Varga in Better Call Saul, and Scorpion in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
As Far Cry 3 had a recent re-release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Ubisoft can’t pull that again. Until then, „Insanity is doing the same f___ing thing over and over…”
