We’re Still Years Away From The Elder Scrolls VI

We won’t get any news out of Bethesda Game Studios even with an axe.

Todd Howard and Bethesda pulled a double announcement at E3 2018, which could be one of the problems of today’s gaming industry. They had a third game in development, which was months away from its launch (it’s Fallout 76 that became one of the flops of the year, and it stayed in the news for all the wrong reasons in 2019 as well, thanks to Fallout 1st…). One of them was Starfield, and the other was The Elder Scrolls VI. Neither games got information since – we saw two videos that could have been put together in a few days.

Regarding Starfield, we learned that it’s going to be a next-gen game (Bethesda Game Studios won’t work on a new IP by now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One), meaning the PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox One trio will get the space game, which will run on the same engine as Fallout 76. The Elder Scrolls fans, however, want to hear more about TES VI. A fan asked Pete Hines, the vice president of public relations and marketing of Bethesda.

He replied with the following: „It’s after Starfield, which you pretty much know nothing about. So if you’re coming at me for details now and not years from now, I’m failing to properly manage your expectations.” Then again, his jerkish response is fair as the question itself was worded that way.

The two games were announced to show that Bethesda is not giving up on the single-player titles. But this is the problem: they announce games too early. No wonder people get impatient! With Fallout 4, they did the right thing: they announced it about five months before the game launched.

Perhaps they should have done the same thing with Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI.
