Demon’s Souls: The Rumours About Bluepoint Weren’t Lying [VIDEO]

This time, it was a good idea to believe what we have heard about Bluepoint Games.

During the PlayStation 5: The Future of Gaming broadcast, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Bluepoint Games have finally announced what we already knew via rumours: they are making a PlayStation 5 remake of Demon’s Souls (which launched in February 2009 in Japan, then in October 2009 in North America, then in June 2010 in Europe on PlayStation 3). This should please Hidetaka Miyazaki, the head of FromSoftware, who was also the director of Demon’s Souls. He said that if a studio worthy of the project is developing the remake, he’d approve of it…

However, Bluepoint is not alone. As with the PlayStation 4 remake of Shadow of the Colossus, they get help from Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio. „From SIE Japan Studio and Bluepoint Games comes a remake of the PlayStation classic, Demon’s Souls. Entirely rebuilt from the ground up and masterfully enhanced, this remake invites you to experience the unsettling story and ruthless combat of Demon’s Souls in unparalleled visual quality and incredible performance,” SIE’s overview says.

The PlayStation Blog has more details: „[…] In addition to beautiful shadow effects and ray tracing, players can choose between two graphics modes while playing: one focused on fidelity, and one focused on frame rate.” So the PlayStation 4 Pro’s legacy continues: if you want to get a higher frame rate, you can give up some of the graphical details and vica versa: if you want beautiful visuals (4K) but lower FPS, you can do it.

Demon’s Souls, the prequel to Dark Souls, has no release date yet. It’s in development exclusively for PlayStation 5. Knowing Bluepoint Games’ stunning history with remasters and remakes, we shouldn’t worry about the quality. The comparison is impressive.
