Pathologic 2: The Second Chapter Will Be Quite Different To The First

The first chapter of the game was incredibly dark – can the developers take it a step further?

Pathologic 2 is a survival game that holds no punches back. The moment you start the adventure, you find yourself in the middle of a plague that kills people at an incredible rate, and you have no idea what you should do. The devs put two things together perfectly: the hopelessness and the powerlessness (as you can’t seem to help anyone around you) were nailed.

Ice-Pick Lodge, the Russian dev team behind Pathologic 2, is hard at work on its second chapter, called The Bachelor. However, we have to wait quite some time until it shows up on Steam, as they are still writing its story. „The first chapter showed us all the pros and cons of our game design. We’d want to take into account all the mistakes we made and raise the bar higher. But this takes some time. We’re looking for a way to make the Bachelor’s gameplay quite different from the one you’ve experienced during the Haruspex. And we want to achieve this goal using the instruments we already have,” the studio wrote in a recent newsletter.

So if you liked Pathologic 2 (who didn’t?), be patient to see the story go forward. Good work needs time, but it’s still a long way off until we see what the devs come up with. Will we get a more lively environment? Or will we get into an even darker situation? Both seem plausible.

If Ice-Pick Lodge will make the second chapter less of a polarised experience (they didn’t seem to be supportive of adding the difficulty sliders), while keeping the quality, they will have a winner on their hands.
