Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica’s 2018 PlayStation 4-exclusive could have looked much different.
Speclizer, a YouTuber, has published a video where we get to see for eight minutes how God of War would look if it used a first-person perspective. It was made possible with the help of a mod, but the scenes look quite unusual how the perspective jumps between Kratos and Atreus. (In films and series, showing just one character talking is a technique that is called shot-reverse shot.)
Regarding the YouTube video, we have two things to mention. One, it contains spoilers, so if you wanted to catch up with the adventures of Kratos and Atreus, then we do not recommend you to watch it. Two, at 5:21 in the video, it looks hilarious how Kratos seemingly pulls the axe out of his ample posterior! We’ve seen this method for a while (for example, Quake III Arena has done the same thing two decades ago, and since it’s an FPS title, it makes perfect sense), but it’s still utilised even to this day.
The second video has Speclizer’s Twitter account showing us how he is fighting an invisible Baldur. It happened due to tinkering with the game’s files gone badly, and it’s not easy to fight an invisible character! The outcome of this battle is one of the triggering points at the end of the world in Nordic mythology, called Ragnarok.
Speaking of Ragnarok, God of War: Ragnarok is potentially the name of the sequel to the PlayStation 4-exclusive first game. However, we don’t know if it will be a PlayStation 5-exclusive or if it also gets a PlayStation 4 version. Even Jim Ryan, the president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment seems to be giving unclear answers.
