During BlizzConline, Blizzard revealed more of Diablo IV.
During the broadcast, they had a What’s Next segment for the game, explaining the Rogue class, which got a separate video, too. According to the developers, we can explore much of the open-world so we can use a mount to go from Scosglen to the Fractured Peaks in Sanctuary. There will be multiple horse breeds, as well as other mounts that you can find by solving puzzles in the world to find hidden locations. Alternatively, you can slay certain monsters. Customization is possible (armour, hoof plates, trophies). The Rogue can jump off the mount to spam fiery arrows (Rain of Arrows) to destroy everything The mount cannot be damaged, but if you get hit while on the mount, you will be forced off to combat the enemies.
The open-world will include camps, which will have many types of monsters and bandits, who are out there to take over the part of Sanctuary in question. Each will have its unique story and location. There will also be quests that randomly pop up in the world, but the camps have an impact on the world, as if you free it, the region will change. Getting rid of the evil will get you a new waypoint, the marketplaces open, the blacksmith and the vendor show up. The quests can also provide new stories and dungeon entrances.
PvP will have areas called Fields of Hatred. These will turn you against other players, but PvP itself isn’t mandatory. You can collect Shards of Hatred here, but it’s not via only killing other players. If you interact with the environment or kill monsters, you can also get shards. These will be unpurified, and you will have to go to a Purification Event to convert them into a currency. Purification will alert the other players, who will then try to attack you before the ritual is completed. If it’s done, you get to keep the shards. The more you turn against other players, you will become a Vessel of Hatred, and the players will be notified in a large radius. They can get a bonus for killing you, and if you survive a set amount of time, you get a large bonus.
And finally, let’s see what Blizzard wrote about the Rogue: „The Rogue is an adaptable, agile warrior who can specialize in ranged or close-quarters combat. She can best any foe with her imbued weapons, perform powerful combo attacks, and can augment her arsenal with deadly poisons and shadow magic to slay demons with impunity.”
Blizzard IV is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
