Sony might have already begun work on Days Gone‘s PC port before they even announced the first „PlayStation escapee!”
Back in August 2019, Shawn Layden (who was formerly the chairmen of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios and before that, the head of the American arm of SIE – he left in late September of the same year!) said that Sony was considering some of its games to be released on multiple platforms. And now, Reddit reveals that Sony has prepared for the PC attack.
A Reddit user, gonnabecrazy69, revealed via SteamDB that Days Gone, SIE Bend Studio’s game, was added to Valve’s database on February 27 2020. That meant it was up there before Guerrilla Games (who we mentioned the other day that they moved to a new, high-tech studio in Amsterdam) confirmed a PC port for Horizon Zero Dawn. So we can say that Sony has been developing PC versions of its games for a year.
„I think it’s important that we stay open to new ideas of how to introduce more people to PlayStation, and show people maybe what they’ve been missing out on, and to maybe put a few minds at ease, releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC. In my mind, Horizon Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance. We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware,” Herman Hulst, head of PlayStation Worldwide Studios, said in March 2020.
A tweet talked about what games might be following Days Gone on PC by Sony shortly. The list mentions Bloodborne, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Ghost of Tsushima, and God of War. Aside from Ghost of Tsushima, all the games are at least three years old, but nothing is official of it yet, so take it with a grain of salt.
Days Gone will launch this Spring on Steam. We talked about its system requirements as well. What can be next on PC? We wouldn’t be surprised if it was Bloodborne.
