Resident Evil 4 was released on multiple platforms, and the ever-growing list is now bigger by another name on it…
GameCube, PlayStation 2 (2005), PC (2007 for the original, shoddy port, 2014 for the HD version), Wii (2007), iOS (2009), Zeebo (2009), PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 (2011), Android (2013), PlayStation 4, Xbox One (2016), Nintendo Switch (2019). This list is now joined by Oculus Quest 2 (as an exclusive), as Capcom teamed up with Oculus (Facebook…) and Armature Studio (ReCore, Dead Star) to being Leon S. Kennedy’s European tour (or torture, whichever you prefer) to virtual reality.
„We’re thrilled for you to experience the world of Resident Evil 4 in a new medium—one where the immersion of a first-person perspective, Touch controllers, and no shortage of technical ingenuity will bring new depth to what you know and love about this highly acclaimed game,” Facebook Reality Labs VP of Content Mike Verdu stated. So in other words, he hopes that those who already know the game like the back of their hand will also give it a try.
In the video below, we can see the game in action for a short period, but we don’t know much about it yet for a good reason: Facebook announced that on April 21, at 3 PM Pacific, they will hold the Oculus Gaming Showcase that will be broadcasted on Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube.
The twist here (aside from RE4 VR going first-person) is that rumours say that Resident Evil 4 also has a remake in development: initially, we heard that M-Two, led by ex-PlatinumGames founder Tatsuya Minami, is helming the development, but due to their remake vision being different, Capcom has taken back the lead role. Nothing is official of it yet, though. The game got thus confirmed from the previous Capcom leaks…
Still, get ready to often hear Ashley’s screams for help, now in VR!
