Such a bug (we hope that it’s just a BUG!) tends to show up in budget games or some asset flips (and it’s somewhat acceptable there), but seeing it in something published from Activision Blizzard is frightening.
The free-to-play game has a lot of players, which is one of the main sources of revenue for the publisher that now has enough cash to fund Bobby Kotick’s recently reduced, yet still incredibly high bonuses and payouts. More and more studios work on Call of Duty, and now, even Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time’s dev team, Toys for Bob, is helping Raven Software in developing Warzone. Let’s hope that this issue is merely some miscommunication between the studios…
It’s not a joke: our player is innocently heading towards a door, which knocks him out so much that he needs to be revived. If he rammed into the door head-on, then we might say that it would be reasonable to see such a thing, but no: there was nothing unusual happening, and yet, the glitched knocked his lights out! On Reddit, many people try to understand how this amateur glitch could happen.
One of the theories is the red door, which allows teleporting from one part of the map to another, which in return disable all other doors in the room. However, that’s not the case here, and it still was an unfortunate scenario for the player. Sure, development-wise, doors can provide a challenge (the AI’s line of sight and their walking routing, and the bullet paths are a few examples).
It’s still not as crazy as what CD Projekt RED had in the past during the development of The Witcher 3: at one point, opening one door in the game opened every other door!
