Remedy Entertainment: Control Celebrates A Round Figure, A Sequel Is Happening

Remedy has confirmed that Control‘s audience is growing reasonably; their project with Epic Games is progressing nicely, and we will also get a sequel!

The Finns’ half-year financial report revealed some important details: “Remedy signed a co-publishing and development agreement with 505 Games for a multiplayer spin-off game of the award-winning Control. Collaboration terms for a future, bigger-budget Control-game were also agreed.

Control has already reached a formidable audience, having been played by over 10 million players. The growing audience and brand awareness are valuable as we continue to support Control and develop Condor. We are in the early conception phase for a future, bigger-budget Control game,” Remedy wrote. A bigger-budget game can mean only one thing: a sequel! (We don’t see a prequel being reasonable, but who knows?)

But they also announced that they have other ideas in the works, including some that Epic Games will publish: “Remedy’s AAA game project with Epic Games has moved into full production, and a second, smaller-scale game remains in full production mode. Vanguard, our free-to-play co-op game project, is still progressing at a good pace, with selected internal and external closed gameplay tests,” the Finnish studio added.

The studio is known for the first two Max Payne games, Alan Wake and Quantum Break. We suspect that this AAA title will be a sequel to Alan Wake unless Remedy Entertainment pulls a new IP once again (Control was also “a newcomer”). We can safely say that their ideas often end up selling well, and they also seem capable of handling multiple projects in development at once.

However, they don’t tend to reveal many details, so we have to be patient until Remedy is ready to confirm what they are developing. But patience is often rewarding.
