Toys For Bob previously developed Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, as well as the Skylanders games (Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was the work of Vicarious Visions, who we’ve written about as being in Blizzard’s half of the company now), and we also talked about them taking on a support role at the behest of the publisher recently, as they help Raven Software develop Call of Duty: Warzone. (This studio was also in the news today.)
However, Toys For Bob posted several job ads. It wouldn’t be worthy of being in the news. Still, when you look at the senior concept artist position, for example, things start to get suspicious, because, on the one hand, there’s no mention of Call of Duty, but they’re openly looking for someone for Toys For Bob; on the other hand, several open positions mention Activision Blizzard’s annual cash cow. In other words: the studio is doing something different, which is good news!
Activision Blizzard, on the other hand, recently confirmed that all the main studios (in the Activision half because Blizzard has Diablo IV and Overwatch 2…) are working on Call of Duty, but this is somewhat contradicted by what we heard in April (Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time’s development continues). It leaves a good 2,000 people working on the franchise, which has been breaking sales records year after year, which is incredible.
But where does Crash Bandicoot 5 come in? Well, we don’t want to spoil anything, but if you play through Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time in its entirety (good luck with that, there are 456 gems in the game; we didn’t write it down, we wrote four hundred and fifty-six there), then in the very last, very brief scene, someone we haven’t seen appears (apart from the beginning of the story), leaving the door open for the sequel…
