It seems that the illusions were short-lived because in the end PS3 games appearing on PS5 was a mistake
Yesterday we saw an image circulating around the internet almost confirming that PlayStation 3 games were starting to appear in the PlayStation 5 store. Since then, many people have believed that this unannounced move by Sony was a consequence of the upcoming PlayStation subscription with the preliminary name Spartacus, which could offer games from the first PlayStation.
The image shows Dead Or Alive 5, Prince of Persia Sands of Time and Prince of Persia The Two Thrones are listed but not available for purchase, which many began to imagine would be included in the upcoming service.
This is a mistake we’ve seen on a number of occasions when browsing the PlayStation Store, so we shouldn’t read too much into it or believe things that we may want but aren’t really true.
Well, this has been clarified by Twitter user Ryan Biniecki who points out that the PS3 games appearing on PS5 is a mistake, and the prices have just been pulled from PS Now, and has no relation to any kind of backwards compatibility with the console at the moment.
Before this spreads like wild fire, a few things to point out:
– This visual bug has happened many times over the years.
– It's pulling the price from when PS Now let you pay to rent games individually.
– Prince of Persia games used to be on PS Now, so no – they're not new. https://t.co/z4SMaOQGiE— Ryan Biniecki (@MysticRyan) January 16, 2022
