Hyper Scape, from the makers of Rainbow Six: Siege, was released in mid-2020 for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
Hyper Scape‘s story will soon come to an end before the battle royale can blow out the candles on its second birthday. Ubisoft today confirmed “the difficult decision” to end the game’s development, announcing that it will close servers on PC and consoles on April 28.
“We will apply the lessons learned to future projects” – Ubisoft
“We wanted to create a frantic shooter experience in tight, vertical spaces, and we’re grateful to the community for sticking with us on this adventure. We will take the lessons learned from the game and apply them to future projects,” the team said in a statement. “We’d like to thank the Hyper Scape community for their passion and commitment to the world of Neo Arcadia, both inside and outside the game. We appreciate your dedication to what we have built.”
The battle for the streets of Neo Arcadia will thus come to an end just over a year and a half after the game’s release on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
Hyper Scape launched in 2020 and set out to announce itself as the most mobile and vertical battle royale in an environment where PUBG, Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone already dominated much of the multiplayer shooter market. Hyper Scape tried to differentiate itself from the others, and in some ways, succeeded, but it was far from a brilliant game.
Ubisoft’s commitment to multiplayer battles didn’t end there. A few months ago, Ghost Recon: Frontline was unveiled, a battle royale in which the key is escape. A release date is not yet known.
