MOVIE NEWS – Rhea Seehorn opens up about the current situation of her character in Better Call Saul.

With just a few more episodes to go, Better Call Saul wraps up the storylines of many of its main characters. Namely, those not in Breaking Bad especially needed their stories to come to an end, as learning the fates of these characters kept fans engaged from one gripping episode to the next. Perhaps the fate of Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) was what fans most looked forward to.

In episode 609, “Fun and Games,” we finally learned why Kim is missing from the Breaking Bad timeline. Because of her role in the accidental murder of Howard (Patrick Fabian) by Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton) and the subsequent cover-up, Kim no longer felt worthy to be a court official. After submitting her resignation to the New Mexico Bar Association, Kim breaks up with Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), citing that the two are “poison” when they are together.

From there, the series jumped forward a bit in time, showing that Jimmy has since fully embraced the persona of Saul Goodman as we get closer and closer to the beginning of the events of Breaking Bad. However, Kim’s departure seems a little sudden for many Better Call Saul fans. Fans are hoping and speculating that he will appear in some form before the series finale.

Rhea Seehorn addressed the future of Kim Wexler in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly. Apparently, Seehorn couldn’t reveal specific information in order not to reveal spoilers about the upcoming final episodes. That said, he couldn’t definitively say if we’ll see Kim again. However, he also noted that the character’s break-up scene with Bob Odenkirk’s Jimmy should still be considered the ending of the story, as it was the end of the Jimmy/Kim partnership that was the driving force behind the series.

“I can’t say if we’ll see him again. And even the fans who were smart enough to figure out when I was in Albuquerque and when I wasn’t – we shot a lot of things out of sequence, because of locations or weather or COVID[-19] or whatever . So you couldn’t tell when someone had finished filming or what that meant for the story. So I’m not going to talk about whether or not we’ll see him again, and in what capacity. I’m saying that the decision she made is devastating, and the end of the relationship – the Jim and Kimmy we knew – and her practicing law is the end of herself, no matter what. Painful. And it really hurt me when I had to play it. [Laughs]”

Better Call Saul airs Mondays on AMC and AMC+.
