A new, seemingly unnecessary feature could be coming to the social networking site owned by Elon Musk.
First, they took away who posted from where, then added the number of views under each tweet (not everyone is interested in those stats!), and now, the awards seen on Reddit and Steam could pop up on the social platform. So the microblogging platform may not get a convenience feature, but an option that may not be entirely well received.
Although not yet confirmed, a list of what Twitter is already testing within the company has surfaced on the profile of software engineer Jane Manchun Wong. The highest value awards are silver and gold, which are taken one-for-one from Reddit, and the other categories are based on Steam’s idea. The concept cannot be called original. The other categories are: mind blown, bravo, super like, helpful, bullseye, hilarious, gem, crown, rose, and bronze for the third highest reward.
Wong had previously leaked accurately from several social media sites, including Twitter, so it’s worth taking the list, which she published as a picture on Twitter, seriously. However, it remains to be seen when the site will launch it and, if it does, to whom it will be available. For example, editing tweets is only active for Twitter Blue subscribers ($8 on PC, $11 a month on iOS – the latter is more expensive due to Apple’s 30% profit margin on microtransactions). For this reason, it is perhaps fair to think that the awards will also be an option only available to subscribers. That is, if it reaches the finish line, as the introduction of Twitter Blue was not so simple (we reported on it last year; the original blue checkmark-only concept was quickly withdrawn because of the amount of nonsense posted on behalf of users imitating larger companies).
Wouldn’t it be more appropriate to introduce something more useful…?
