Moreover, Square’s (now Square Enix) JRPG will make a guest appearance in an unexpected game.
Square Enix has announced that it has officially registered a Final Fantasy VII Anniversary Day with the Japanese Anniversary Association. The game was released in Japan 26 years ago (on January 31, 1997), and Yoshinori Kitase, director of Final Fantasy VII and producer of the Final Fantasy VII Remake projects, wrote a statement to mark the registration:
“The 31st of January 1997, the day that Final Fantasy VII came out, was not just an important day for the Final Fantasy series but also marked when so many big things started moving for those who worked on the game. I remember being overwhelmed by the breakneck speed with which video game technology was evolving and dreaming big things for the future. With the establishment of this official anniversary day, I will now always remember these things and hold them dearly in my heart,” Kitase wrote.
There’s another announcement here that we just can’t get our heads around. FuturLab and Square Enix Collective have announced that PowerWash Simulator is getting free DLC. It’s called the Midgar Special Pack, and you’ll have to make locations, objects, and enemies familiar from Final Fantasy VII crystal clean. 7th Heaven, Hardy-Daytona, Guard Scorpion. Anyone familiar with Final Fantasy VII will know what it’s all about. The only problem is that it’s currently unknown when this DLC will be released. At least it will be free, so you don’t have to get a season pass or pay extra for this content. And make it spotless!
PowerWash Simulator is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. That being said, we still have one question: who expected Final Fantasy VII to appear in this game as a crossover? If it were another JRPG, we’d say that makes perfect sense because, genre-wise, there’s not much difference…
