Insomniac Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment have set a date for Peter Parker and Miles Morales’ adventure in New York.
The two companies announced the new details on the PlayStation Blog. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is being built from the ground up for PlayStation 5 and will harness the power of the console with improved visuals, faster web-swinging (and web wings), 3D sound and almost instant character switching. At different points in the story, you can control both Spider-Men. In the open world, you can instantly switch between them as you explore Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. Both Spider-Men will have exclusive stories and missions.
As you can see from the box art, Peter and Miles are the key protagonists in the story. The iconic red background returns, but darkness surrounds them as they are threatened by fan-favorite villains such as Venom, Lizard, and Kraven. The characters’ arms represent their new abilities, with Peter equipped with the symbiote and Miles with the advanced bioelectric Venom power. The game is available for pre-order from June 2+. If we do so (regardless of version), we will receive Peter’s Arachknight costume with three additional color options earlier. Miles will receive the Shadow Spider costume again with three additional color options. In addition, we’ll have three more skill points and the Web Grabber gadget.
The base edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be $70/€80, while the Digital Deluxe version will be $80/€90, adding ten unique costumes (five per character), additional Photo Mode frames and stickers, and two extra skill points, in addition to the pre-order bonuses. The costumes are created by the comics, the movies, and guest art from PlayStation Studios (Kris Anka, Julia Blattman, Sweeney Boo, Anthony Francisco, Raf Grassetti, Jerad Marantz, Joel Mandish, Darren Quach, and Victoria Ying). The collector’s edition will be $230/€250. It will get you a code for the Digital Deluxe version (because why bother providing you a physical copy, right?), a steel book, and an extraordinary, high-quality 19″ statue of Spider-Man fighting the fan-favorite Venom. You can order it on PlayStation Direct.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is out on PlayStation 5 on October 20.
