The Elder Scrolls VI Might Break A Long-Running Tradition!

While Bethesda Game Studios (BGS) is launching Starfied in a matter of days, the game that will follow is already on the horizon.

The Elder Scrolls franchise is no slouch story-wise, and TES VI has several places to choose from. While the gameplay style and a few recurring mechanics will likely return, the setting will unlikely remain an issue. The continent where the previous episodes have been set is Tamriel. It has several parts (Morrowind, Hammerfell, Skyrim – sound familiar, don’t they?), full of mythology, legends, and, as a result, dramatic quests.

So far, we haven’t had the opportunity to explore the whole of Tamriel in other The Elder Scrolls, with the Tamrielic Empire appearing in each of them. Although, in some cases, the Emperor doesn’t rule directly, his minions are present. If the story of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is followed in VI, Tamriel could change significantly, as towards the end of Skyrim, the Empire has sunk to a level never seen before.

A civil war has broken out between the Empire and the Stormcloak faction, and if the latter wins, a significant shift could happen on the continent. Plus, there’s the Dark Brotherhood storyline, which could lead to the assassination of the Emperor. All of which leaves the player character with a huge decision to make about the future of Tamriel… By the end of the story, no Emperor and no power can be left in the hands of the long-reigning Empire.

BGS may consequently overthrow the Tamriel Empire in The Elder Scrolls VI. The story could be set in the end days of it or even after the system has collapsed. In the latter scenario, Todd Howard and his team could take a brand new approach, and perhaps Microsoft would give BGS a free hand this time, too, in return for the game not being released on Sony’s console this time either.

True, don’t expect a new installment of The Elder Scrolls anytime soon, as Starfield will be a few years away, and since The Elder Scrolls VI was announced at E3 2018 along with Starfield, it’s best to be patient…
