If only they didn’t throw everything out the window after the acquisition (including the site name and logo…).
The three-tiered subscription model for Twitter is already available here (we’ll keep calling it Twitter until the twitter.com domain becomes unusable, even if it’s called X, because that’s net nonsense). So you have the Basic, Premium and Premium+ subscription options. Basic costs $3 per month, and the annual plan is cheaper (10% discount). You can edit your tweets, which can be longer, you can also undo them, you can post longer videos, you have access to top articles, you can read threads without distraction (Reader), you can play videos in the background (you can download them; the side note is that you can do this with VideoDownloadhelper, for free), and they increase your response “slightly”, so you have an advantage over non-subscribers. They also don’t get a checkmark next to their name.
It’s cheeky to put two-factor SMS authentication (which has been taken away) behind a paywall, as well as encrypted private messages. There are also customization options in the Basic subscription: app icons, bookmarked folders, customizable navigation, themes, you can highlight the best tweets on your profile in a tab, and you can hide your likes and subscriptions. Still, some of these are features that should be available to everyone.
Then there’s the Premium subscription, which has been around for a while. In addition to everything included in Basic, it makes our replies stand out even more with Boost, we get half as much advertising on our For You and Following tabs, we can get paid for our popular tweets, activate subscriptions, use Tweetdeck (because yes, they took that away too), Media Studio and Data Analysis (there is nothing useful about chasing numbers, and anyone who goes for that is soulless). But there is also tick (which can be hidden) and ID verification.
Finally, the other new tier is Premium+, which costs $16 per month. Here you’ll be completely ad-free on Twitter, with the most highlighted response. Prices are 30% higher on Apple devices. 16 dollars a month to remove ads? Ublock Origin. Control panel for Twitter. We recommend it.
