The Warhammer 40,000 franchise takes another turn, as Caged Element’s game is neither a real-time strategy game nor a first/third person shooter.
Plaion will be releasing Warhammer 40K: Speed Freaks in Early Access for the first time, and the subtitle is eerily similar to a Mario Kart clone that was released on the PS1 a quarter of a century ago. In the 41st millennium, a cult of deranged, speed-obsessed orcs has emerged. They call themselves Speed Freeks. Addicted to the sound of roaring engines, blistering speed, choking smoke, whipping winds, and searing fire, these Freeks bring their supercharged mob of war-torn buggies, bikes, tanks, and trukks. Players assemble their mob of dakka-spitting wagons and lead their team to victory across multiple maps in this explosive, unique take on the combat racing and shooter genres. Use strategy and brute force to obliterate your orc enemies as your team races to ultimate glory.
This alpha version of the game is a bit scrappy, ramshackle and bolted together – just like the Orks that race in it. Please keep in mind that there will be bugs/problems and the developers still have some work to do and they want the players to be a part of it. Choose from several classes of vehicles, including killers, tanks, and support vehicles, each with different abilities that cater to a variety of play styles. With 7 unique vehicles to choose from, you’ll always find one to suit your current gaming mood – especially if it’s just to make things go BOOM! Bring out your biggest and flashiest Dakka and battle your way to the finish line in chaotic 16-player matches. With a variety of badass vehicles to choose from and richly-decorated maps to battle on, no two matches are ever the same.
Speed Freeks’ Alpha game mode is a hardcore combat racing conquest that ends in a glorious sprint to the finish line. A fresh take on the vehicular shooter, this mode has players racing for points, battling for the bigger score, and putting the pedal to the metal in a race to the finish. Feast your eyes on fast and explosive mayhem powered by Unreal Engine 5. Live out your ultimate Warhammer 40,000 Ork gaming fantasy like never before with authentic vehicles and characters racing through the grim, dark future.
Warhammer 40K: Speed Freeks will launch in Early Access on Steam on August 6th. Full release will follow later this year.
